Excellent flavour! Even this novice chef was able to make it on the first try. The fresh noodles made all the difference. Even though I didn’t get them to full room temp and some of them were stuck together, they came apart in the wok once I included the sauce. I thought the sauce amount was quantity sufficient. I know it will be even better the next time I make it! Thank you for the great recipe!

That may be my problem as well, I often zip each one into a sandwich bag when it’s still slightly warm, because I’m afraid of the bread drying out. Actually—I do have an issue with the bread seeming dry the next day, and I’m not sure how to combat that. It only softens up if I microwave the buns for 10-15 seconds (my mom always did this with the store bought ones, haha), but I would like to not have to do that for when I give them to people and want them to be enjoyed as they are. 😭

Thank you for the reply, I just noticed all the comments! I think whether the recipe was a success or not in its previous written form for people making it before the video was posted greatly depended on whether they had some experience making similar dishes… In my case, I am from Eastern Europe so I might need more detailed written instructions (or a video) to make dishes that are very new, while 3 sentences or just an ingredient list might be enough for a familiar dish I grew up with ;) For Asian recipes I really gravitate towards recipes with clear written step by step instructions since I have a small child I can’t usually watch a video before/while cooking. Anyway the video is very good and I will give the dish another try, thank you!

Tried this recipe last night and doubled it. These are so much better than the frozen ones from the grocery store!
I used ground pork instead in lieu of Chinese New Years good luck foods. I used all fresh shiitake and added a cup of corn. I did cheat and use potsticker wrappers from the store since I didn’t have the time or energy to make my own. Added white pepper, chopped green onions and grated ginger. Boiled them for 3 minutes instead of pan frying.
Thank you so much for this delicious recipe! Where I live, it is hard to find the traditional tastes of my childhood like this recipe. I bought your cookbook and enjoy readung your family’s stories and making the recipes out of it.
